Jawaharlal Nehru , our first prime minister , one of greatest leader and one of most charismatic prime minister of India had died on 27th may ,1964. He was undisputed tallest leader at that time of India. Gandhiji had died many years ago and so were subhash , sardar and all other main leaders of Indian Freedom Struggle.  While i would write about nehru’s term as prime ministers , his major contributions , his major failures , today i would like to write about how people reacted to his death.  When nehru died my dad was in pune. He was attending his friend’s wedding. Wedding was on 26th and reception was on 27th. When news came in of nehru’s death , reception was cancelled.  Nation was observing grief for 3 days officially and people did abide to it voluntarily. Even restraurants were closed and rickshaws , taxi too remained close. Such was level of respect of Leader in those era.  Even lal bahdur shastri was so influential in his time that when he made appeal to nation to give up one time food , once a week , he did get great response to his appeal.  Times have changed since then. Jaisa raja , vaisi praja aur jaisi praja vaisa raja. We have lost faith in politicians . Corruption , asset in crores , only bol vachan have become synonyms of politicians ..  But we are still patriot lot ..Aren’t we..
