As India team for test series for sri lanka got announced , there was discussion going on in an prestigious web portal of India. Some body questioned laxman’s selection!!!!!!!. Now questioning laxman’s selection in test team is like questioning ‘why is tata’s name in most trust worthy business men?’. Never the less for sake of records v.v.s laxman has highest average in last five years and second highest after gautam gambhir entered the scene. Test matches would never be same once laxman retires.

9 years ago India were down and out from the test against australia. Having found itself in hopeless situation , laxman produced gem of innings and along with dravid not only made sure India is save but India went on to win the test match. According to tendulkar , dravid , ganguly , kumble , that inning did more than winning the test. It changed entire belief system of Indian cricket and new self belief was induced among all cricketers.

Today after nine years laxman did it again. Yesterday’s paper read ‘ India facing possible defeat in Colombo Test’ and all hopes of sachin tendulkar (bhishma pitama of Indian cricket). Stats too were in favor of sri lanka, pitch was getting tough but tendulkar played cautious innings before class of laxman made sure that India won. Raina too supported laxman ably.

V.V.S laxman has time and again proved his class and this innings would also be cherished long time by cricket experts. Media for strange reasons doesnot flash laxman as much as others and some or other do question laxman’s selection. Thank god they are not selectors!!!!!!!!

With this win dhoni’s clean record of not loosing series still remains since India has drawn the series.

It is not every day when India loses still one doesnot feel too bad about it. It is not every day that when world’s number tag is at stake and still you want one opponent to take wickets against you. It is not every day that opponent is backed up.

Muttiah Muralitharan , the man who re defined spin bowling , the man whose dusara got every teesara player shocked and every

player being scared is saying good bye in style to cricket. The legend has one match to get 8 wickets and reach 800 wickets

mark in test cricket and he did just that. Muttiah muralitharan is now officially first person to have crossed 800 wickets mark and perhaps would remain the only one to do so.

To reach to 800 mark , one needs to play 160 test matches and take five wickets averagely in each test match.Considering a nation plays 10 test matches in an year , it would take 16 years for a great bowler to reach 800 mark. He has to maintain his form through out , remain mentally and physically fit , then he can reach that level.It is as good as climbing mount everest!!!!!!!!

As muralitharan joins his contemporaries shane warne and anil kumble as being retirees , an era today comes to an end. No more we would see ‘eyes wide open’ bowling gesture. No more we would see smiling gentleman who could beat greats in flight. No more we would see exceptional bowler who could spin even in cement pitch!!!!!!!

It is time to say good bye to one of ‘THE MAN’ of spin bowling. As we bid good bye , we wish him all the best for his future. There wont be any ‘doosra’ muralitharan.

India were blown off by australia. Blown off by sheer pace. Pace battery of johnson ,Nannes ,watson , Tait. Much acclaimed batting line up falled like cards . gambirs , yuvrajs , rainas , yusufs , dhonis , none could stand against bowling attack of these four.

Ironically second highest score was that of harbhajhan singh who managed to make 13. Only silver lining was batting of rohit sharma who played with ease. But this lone fighter couldnot win match for India. One doesnot deserve to win when six batsman don’t make up to double digit .

Now India is stuck in situation where it would require to win both of its matches . On sunday India plays west Indies and on tuesday India plays sri lanka.

India not only have to win both matches but would have to keep eye on run rate in case either of two teams win against australia.

Time and again India lends itself into position where it has to win to survive and if India wants to win world cup from here , it would have to win all matches!!!!!!!!

To Make It into semis we require the following man in form :

1) Gautam Gambhir :

He needs to come back in his usual form. He can play role of sheer anchor , no need to play big shots. His presence on field does make difference

2) Yuvraj Singh :

It is high time this man gets back in form. India needs him to fire. With kind of ability this man has been gifted with , he can really make difference

3) Get Karthik in :

yusuf pathan is not dilvering. Somebody wrongly told him that t-20 has only one over to bat and he took it seriously. Yes if yusuf fires we can make 250 but we can’t wait till eternity for yusuf to fire.Jadega has been good in bowling but yesterday was milked by australian.

We need to get karthik in the squad and replace either of above too. Dinesh has been in good touch and he can make difference.

Let us hope that India plays to its true potential and wins all four matches.

IPL Season 3 ended with two finals. One was on cricketing ground where chennai did beat mumbai to lift the throphy. Another was between manohar and lalit modi and needless to say ‘Big Boss Kaun’ was proven by suspension of Lalit Modi.

IPL 2010 started with controvery of snubbing pakistani players during the auction. Pakistani Media , Indian Media , People from both sides of border had variety of opinions on it.

Soon srk joined the debate and it led to political angle with shiv sena against srk who got support from liberals, general Indians and congress.

Once that got over and IPL started all seemed well till kochi thing happen. Tharoor was forced to resign and media is reporting that lalit modi would also be asked to step down.

Amidst all the controversy one thing has stood tall in this IPL and it is cricket. Unlike first two seasons this IPL was highly competitive one with exception of mumbai which did extremely well and punjab which performed its worst cricket.

Some of matches were simply outstanding with yusuf almost single handely trying to chase down huge total , banglore powered by kallis and pandey successfully chashing 200+ , decaan landing itself in position of winning every single game to enter semis and successfully doing that , dhoni ensuring chennai remain in top 4 for , 3rd consecutive time and kolkatta producing some gem from their hat.

This IPL saw veterans like kallis , tendulkar , ganguly showing their class . Dada fielded like never befor , diving and catching blinders. Tendulkar showed why he is king of cricket while ojha, mishra did ask some tought question to srikanth and company about why were they not selected for t-20 world cup.

Till last two league matches it was not clear as to which teams would play in semis except mumbai and to some extent banglore which was good for tournament.

IPL unfortunately would keep on being in news for lalit modi , IT raids till dust settles down but as far as cricket goes , this seasons was one of best displays of cricket.

It read breaking news. As soon as I got alert on my chat window from leading news website of India , I clicked on it. I thought may be naxals attacked again or sensex passed 19k or women’s bill saw some break through but when i clicked on the link I saw biggest news of current times. News that made me feel that now thats what is called breaking news. It read in bold letters -’Shoaib Malik Divorces Ayesha‘.

Well sania mirza is like family to all of us (110 crores and still counting) , sohaib malik is like family friend , since we know him since years and ayesha too had gained lot of sympathies because she married a person who denied that he ever married her!!!!!!!!!!

Now bharati ki beti marrying to pakistan ka now admired beta (one month ago he was banned) , so ofcourse it is our responsibility to see that our beti doesnot get into something which might cause trouble to her future and so Indian media acted as our representatives and asked tough questions to sohaib. Rightly ladke waale had their representation in form of pakistani sports faternity which defended sohaib.

Now finally Indian Media seems relived as sohaib divorced ayesha and by doing that acknowledging that ayesha was right about her claims that she married sohaib or may be sohaib wanted to avoid legal hassles and decided that divorce is easiest way to get out of it.

What ever is the case now Indian Media has other jobs to do. No it is not again about violent naxals (we are nonviolents people and so naxals can wait ) , neither it is about some corruption case (hey we are used to it and that can wait) , right now most important thing is to find out what sania would wear for her wedding , who all would be called in there, what would sohaib wear and such stuffs. Oops yes important thing is what would be menu and where would they go for honeymoon..

Indian Media is very busy these days , after all it is not easy to find such things and report to all Indians. Guess some would board flight and follow sania-sohaib to their honey moon destination and report from there too!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow..88 runs in 54 balls..Sourav ganguly yesterday was on song. It was innings long awaited and he played such a gem of innings after years. It was heartening to see ganguly , once again in control.

During his peak days ganguly was known for his massive sixes but his inability to play balls at chest height made him vunerable at times. Yesterday was different. Sourav ganguly was once again at his best. Hitting sixes , coming down the track and milking deccan chargers.

This victory would surely boast his and his team’s performance but it also keeps hopes of kkr alive to enter semi finals.

Ganguly with yesterday’s knock did enter top 5 run getters list in current IPL season. Kallis , sachin and ganguly are in top 5 defying common belief that t-20 is youngsters game.

With gayle yet to fire and Brendon McCullum to soon join the team , its sure going to be fireworks for kkr.

Deccan on other hand have the firepower to make good of remaining matches. With mumbai well placed and delhi too in comfortable slot , the fight for semis is getting heated up between other teams.

Punjab is virtually out of the game but can play as spoilers for other teams.

It was not ipl t-20 , nor it was battle of two titans fighting for test ranking’s top spot. It was not cricket tournament , it was BOXING.

Today India woke up to a pleasant news in sports arena. India made clean sweep in finals to win team titl at fifth commonwealth boxing championships.

Match of vijender singh had bollywood like twist with injured hero still fighting till the end and emerging as victorious. Difference between bollywood and this event was that latter was for real. Vijender singh fought with bleeding nose to win gold medal.

Along with vijender singh , suranjoy singh,amandeep singh,jai bhagwan,paramjeet samota and dinesh kumar too won gold medals in resepective categories.

It is heartening to see India doing good in other sports too and cricket obessed India needs to appreciate these sports to continue winning medals.
