UP has population of 20 crores!!!!!!!!. If it had been country it would have been fifth largest populated country after china , India, USA, Indonesia!!!!!!!

Upcoming uttar pradesh election is extremely important elections not just for uttarpradesh which is largest populated state in India but also for three leaders and their future.

These three leaders are RAHUL GANDHI , AKHILESH YADAV AND BEHN MAYAWATI.

1) Rahul Gandhi :

His only credentials in politics till date has been that his surname is GANDHI. The surname which was hijacked by nehru family are now first family of Indian Politics. But Nehru clan didnt just hijack surname , they hijacked Congress too. The party which was ones party of every one is not reduced to be party of first family.

To be fair to nehru clan , they have had their share in making of what India is today. Be it be nehru or Indira or Rajiv, they did do lot for the country but at same time they reduced great party into ‘yes madam/sir’ party where top most post is reserved for either nehru clan or chosen one by nehru clan!!!!!!!

The yuvraj of congress Rahul Gandhi has been honest to people and himself. He knows that it is because of his surname and other surnames like schindiyas or pilots or pawars or latest tandon or singh is credential to enter politics!!!!!!!!

Rahul has been working to get actual aam aadmis in the party but his true test would come in uttar pradesh. Many believe Rahul Baba would be elevated to prime ministership in 2014 , if upa wins election.

The passport to prime ministership would come from uttar pradesh. Congress is already at rock bottom in up and even if congress does reasonably better than last election , congress would be quick to hail rahul gandhi.

But if congress looses elections miserably then congress would call it collective responsibility and still manage to promote Rahul Gandhi.

Then why is this election important for Rahul?. He got to prove himself to himself and also to people of thinking India and his credentials other than merely being born in privilege family would come from Uttar Pradesh.

2) Akhilesh Yadav :

Why should congress have all the fun?. Most political parties including BJP of up are getting their sons/daughters into politics . They have example of congress which has been hugely successful in that.

If Congress project Rahul as yuvraj of India , SP is projecting akhilesh as yuvraj of up. Akhilesh is main campaigner of Samajwadi party. Though Akhilesh maintains that his father would be chief minister , the baton of leadership would pass on to akhilesh in coming year and performance of sp in up is important for akhilesh to cement his position and emerge as generation next leader of sp.

3) Mayawati :

So what is she is crorepati?. So what that there are cases against her?. So what that no one does question her asset of 89 crore officialy while she has been full time politician since 20 plus years, mayawati remains popular leader of up.

She would be fighting against tide and if she wins this election , her next step would be 2014 general election where she would like to play important role. Her google ad campaign in 2009 elections showed her ambition of becoming prime minister.

But if she loose elections , her path ahead seems rocky.

For BJP it seems fight of two yuvraj and dalit ki beti would create situation of their advantage. So let see how up elections unfold…

Bollywood is biggest film industry in the world and one of two passion which we Indians have in general. Songs, dance , movie , hero , heroines..The business of selling dreams as claimed by many people of film industry.

Politics on other hand seems to be serious thing. Politics seems to be dead serious thing which works for governance , people , poor,rich,dalit,brahmin,minority,majority but with background of gaining power.

Both seems pole apart but have many similarities which are as under :

1) Family Business :

Bollywood largely is family based business . We have roshans,kapoors,johars,chopras ruling to roost and from salman , aamir to hrithik, kareena to ranbir , imran , all have had family background in bollywood which fecilitated their entry in bollywood.

Politics too is family business these days..It started with congress where Indira inherited politics , then brought sanjay , then rajiv , now we have sonia who brought rahul while priyanka too would enter sooner or later.In congress we also have scindhiyas, pilots. This successful model prompted other parties like dmk,shiv sena, RJD , Samajwadi Party,NCP to follow congress .

But unlike politics , in bollywood one can enter the industry but success depends on talent. We have had many sons and daughters of directors,producers,actors,actresses who failed to impress audience. In Politics talent doesnot matter , what matters is vote bank of family…

2) Selling Dreams :

Bollywood is business of “selling dreams”. Sole purpose of bollywood is taking away all the problems,issues,tensions from lives of aam aadmi and give him three hours of break where he can dream,he can enjoy,he can forget everything .

Politics is not much different than bollywood in this aspect, specially in relation to aam aadmi. If we read at party manifestos of various parties , it is ‘selling dreams’ business.

3) Unpredictable :

Ask any experienced actor,director or producer about why particular movie gets hit or flop and they wont be able to answer or pin point to particular reason. In same lines ask vajpayee why NDA lost in 2004 or ask UPA that inspite of 2008,inspite of ‘cash for vote scam’ why they won and they too wont be able to answer.

UPA-2 is most corrupted government ever in independent India but would they loose in 2014?. Well none can say so. Politics and bollywood are both unpredictable things, both depend on people and mood of people changes more than sensex!!!!!!!!

4) Similar Structures :

To make a bollywood movie , one needs finance,story, producer,director,actor and lots of support staff which are called spot boy , production man , light man etc. The cream of all the efforts is taken away by face of movie which is actor,actress as well as director/producer while support staff hardly gets anything.

To make political party one needs finance , manifesto, face (leader) and lot of workers (cadres). If we look at parliament , cream is taken by face of party while workers remain where they were always!!!!!!

Both bang of people support to meet their purpose but faces become stars while people remain where they are!!!!!!!!

The above are few of similarities between bollywood and politics…But unlike politics , bollywood mostly entertain and fullfills its promise in return of money, for politics we cannot say the same thing!!!!!!!

If we look into history , time when brits took over India , there were more rajas in India than current number of MPs in parliament. Once brits left  India  , it was split into two countries and what remained in front of sardar vallabh bhai patel was uphill task of making 500 plus rajas and their raaj  into single country called India. It is nothing short of miracle that Iron Man of India achieved this in such a short time period.

But something dont change in spirit , it chances only in form. After 64 years of Independence what we have today is democracy where people  elect Mps and MLas which in turn elect their own party leader , which in turn become prime minister or chief minister.

Most parties have turn into family owned enterprise . It can be termed as ‘paedi’ in desi language. Here is list of some of family owned enterprise  parties :

1) Indian National Congress -

This is sorry state . Congress is perhaps one of those parties which used to genuinly represent India. It was among first parties to have people  from all religions , all caste and it believed in women empowerment too. Such things still seems to have sustain in lower and middle levels but top  post is reserved , in form of nehru-gandhi parivar. As in 1800s , when being born in one family was criteria to become king , today in congress we  have being born in nehru clan as most important criteria to become king (pm) or king maker. Prince of congress , Rahul Gandhi is expected to  take over from Dr Manmohan singh in next elections ,provided scam makers upa-2 gets enough votes.

2) Shiv sena -

This is not a national party , no matter how much it claims to be. It is regionally party headed by Bal Thackeray. Like gandhi parivar of congress  thackeray family is sarve sarva in shiv sena . Called as party supremo , he made his son udhav thackeray as his heir . The decision irked Raj  thackeray who went on to form his own party.

3) Samajwadi Party -

Headed by mulayam singh yadav , this too is regional party right now struggling to hold its ground. Being bulldozed by BSP , samajwadi party  governed uttar pradesh , before mayawati sweeped polls. Mulayam’s son and brothers have strong hold on party and akhilesh yadav is heir  apparent who is supposed to be face of future as far as samajwadi party goes.

4) DMK-

With son being ex deputy chief minister , daughter being MP (right now in jail) and elder son being cabinet minister , karunanidhi and family can be  said as proprieter of DMK enterprise. At 88 he still looks strong and inspite of loosing elections terribly , he still holds all cards for DMK. It would  be interesting to see how DMK shapes up in 20 years from now. Would it be match between two brothers or triangular series with Kanimozhi  factor?. Well only time will tell.

5) Rashtriya Janata Dal-

Dont go by name , this too is regional party and not rashtriya party. Yes it does contest election in few states but its main state is bihar and Mr  Lalu yadav and family owns this enterprise. When lalu has gone to jail , he had made his wife as chief minister of the state!!!!!!!!. It is like good old  days , when kings used to appoint a nominee when they went to war or had bad health!!!!!!. Lalu’s son too made his debut in politics in last  elections which lalu lost miserably but in politics relevance is just one elections away .

Other than above we have break away groups like MNS which is headed by Raj Thackeray , YSR-Congress headed by jagan . Wont be surprised f we have raj’s son or jagan son heading their parties in future.

Janta Dal United , Communist , BJP, BSP are among few parties which are not family owned enterprises. They have their own limitations though, for e.g. BJP cannot ignore RSS , for communist , it is race against time . In BSP , it is madam maya’s show and none can dare to oppose her .

The way things are going , we may end up with MPs who all have blood relatives in parliament. All under oath to serve aam janta!!!!!!!!!

Now what?

Well parliament would run for budget session. JPC would use same machinery which is being used by supreme court of India to get the facts of the case and that is CBI. JPC since has members from all parties , it is sort of assurance that CBI would do the job without coming into pressure from government but how would it handle pressure coming from all quarters?. Well you know how when you work in CBI. It is their routine pressure!!!!!!!!!

Indian women , the pillar of Indian Families. India is perhaps only place in the world other than nepal where goddess are worshipped. Women have played important role since thousands of years in India as we know today.

Be it be ahiliya , sita , draupadi or razia sultan or maharani laxmi bai in first independence movement or sarojini naidu , anne beasant in freedom struggle or Indira gandhi as prime minister or present day sonia , mamta and maya. Women have been part of politics , administration and formation of policies in India.

Women have played huge part in culture and all walks of life.  Kiran bedi , President pratibha patil , kasturba gandhi , ela bhatt, barkha dutta are few of numerous name who have made difference in their own way and contributed to diverse India.

India has around 600 million females and inspite of 63 years of independence social issues and social evila like dowry , female foeticide , maritial rape , domestic violence , rapes , gender bias, child marriage are still part and parcel of India.

The thriving and upcoming India needs contribution of women more than it ever did.  Women empowerment is the key to India’s goal of being developed nation. Without participation and respresentation of approx 50% of Indian Population how can India even think of becoming developed country?

Women Reservation Bill tabled today saw severe opposition from samajwadi party , RJD , Deve Gowda and few other parties. Now is there any thing to debate about this?. Its natural to have proper representation of woman. When Iraq can have 25% seats for women , giving 33% in India is certainly not a big issue.

Now coming to dalits , minorities which seems to be main issue fo sp , RJD.  Now kind of opposition they displayed in upper house shows how well mannered they are and how good they can do for minorities , women and general Indian masses. Never the less , they have a point about proper representation of all Indians which include dalits and minorities.

Now dalits and minorities concerns can be dealt with and must be dealt with. It can be worked out as it has been time and again worked out by constitution of India. Opposing the bill since 13 odd years has not helped any. Has it?. While congress has sonai gandhi , ambika soni , renuka and lot of other leaders who are woman , BJP has sushma swaraj as leader of opposition , Communist has bindra karat as strong voice , now same lalu , mulayam , gowda , how many strong woman voice to they have?. Why didn’t they give more tickets to women in these 13 years belonging to minority and dalit ?. They had that freedom and still have that freedom if they want to do it and are seriously interested in their stand.

Finally women’s reservation bill might become reality with UPA’s cabinet having already approved the bill which will be presented before rajaysabha and loksabha anytime soon.

What Is Women’s Reservation Bill :

The bill if becomes reality will ensure that 33% seats are reserved for women in loksabha and state assembly elections.

Who Are Supporting The Bill :

For a change left , right and congress all are in same lines on this issue. Communist and BJP are with congress in this issue and would support the bill

Who Are Opposing The Bill :

Lalu’s RJD who made rabadi devi as chief minister of Bihar, BSP who has mayawati as its head and chief minister of uttar pradesh , SP and JDU are opposing the bill

Why Are They Opposing The Bill ? :

The above mentioned parties want reservation within the reservation. They want reserved seats for backward classes from this 33% seats

Obstacles In Getting Bill Passed :

UPA backed by BJP and LEFT won’t have any problem in getting bill passed in loksabha but rajyasabha is where they would face difficuly

Is Bill Needed? :

Ofcourse it is. Our 48-49 % population are woman . Woman representation and increase in their numbers in parliament and assembly is needed and would be great for democracy.

Would Bill Change Anything ? :

In short terms , No. In long term Yes. To get into politics is never easy , secondly getting ticket , fighting elections and winning is tough task. It requires large network , money and many other things. So initially this bill would most likely be used by parties to take their own relatives, admirers , kins into politics but in long run this bill would serve purpose it intends to.
