Religion is one of biggest contributor to human species’s journey. Religion has been one of biggest unifier among human beings. Religion is also most important imposer of moral values and has contributed immensely in establishing social norms and made society flourish.

But while religion has had many many many benefits it is also true that like any other entity it has had its flaws. Religion has caused divide too among same human species. In name of sect , in name of ‘my way only way’ religion has also contributed in immense blood spill among human beings.

Be it be aurangzebs or crusaders or shia/sunni or brahmin/dalit or hindu/muslim , history has witnesses some of worst side of human beings , all in name of merciful god.

Independent have seen three of worst attacks on communities based on religious identities. First being attack on sikh communities after Indira gandhi died. Innocent sikhs was slaughtered by congress people in those riots. Arguably the death toll has been highest in single targeted riots.

Second worst riots which independent India saw was gujarat riots 2002 in which muslim community was targeted because vhp car shewaks had got killed in godhra. It was first riot to be covered by news channel and it is one of worst riots that India has ever seen in history.We also saw Christians being targeted in orissa couple of years back.

This brings to important question ‘is communal violence bill necessary?’. After gujarat riots , need for communal violence bill was felt and now government has draft of cvb (communal violence bill) ready to be tabled. While opposition parties have opposed the bill , upa-2′s ally Mamta  banerjee too has opposed the bill in present form.

As expected lalu prasad yadav have supported the bill and same backing for the bill is expected from mulayam singh yadav and other politicians who project themselves as champion of secularism.

But is communal violence bill necessary?. Yes and No. Yes there is need of very very strong bill to prevent riots like that of orissa or gujarat or delhi . But bill in present form is far from desirable. It puts majority community as aggressor and sees minority as victims always.

What we need is having zero tolerance policy against any form of communalism . Words dont matter .Whether one is trying to use community or his/her religion or hindutva or secularism as words but if impact is division of society and possibility of hostilness between two communities , it must be dealt with.

What we need is religion separated from governance in letter and spirit. Bill must not have distinction of minority or majority but must see any party/person if threat between communities as threat and must be booked.

Coming to federal nature of our republic , bill does give power to center to intervene , if state fails and I truly support that. If state government is mis using its power to achieve its political goal , center must have right to intervene.But going by history of congress , center government often misuses its power and constitutional posts to meet its own political means. So to safe guard state governments from that , there should be ample measures to do that.

Lastly why divide Indians into hindus, muslims , sikhs , christians , dalits . Why not have strongest possible law to make sure Indians are protected rather than protecting communities. In the end lives lost in riots are Indian lives. Isn’t it?

Religion is one of most powerful and influential entity in human civilization.It has immensely contributed in directing human civilization , contributing in social system , inducing moral values . Human civilization is indebted to religion for taking human race to current position.

But as religion has played important role in positive terms ,it has also being responsible for many blood sheds , murders,looting and division among human race.

People in dream of getting heaven or protecting their religious identity quiet often forget the very base of being human. People forget that logic , compassion , love , hope makes us human .People forget that our ancestors have worked really hard to take us where we are and in over zeal of religion people tend to get back to roots and that is jungle from where we all started at first place.

West bengal’s deganga is seeing riots . Trinamool Congress MP Haji Nurul Islam is alleged to be leading disillusioned mob and the mob is doing what mob can do the best. That is killing of innocent ,looting shops and destroying worship place. Since mob is of fanatic muslims , the people at receiving hands are hindus.

Ironically Hindus being in majority , Indian media didnt find it too exciting to cover the news like it did in Gujarat riot case. There is no sabse tej , no name calling and no ngos rushing to save Hindus. Gujarat riots cannot be justified of course. It saw deganga reversed and slaughter of Muslims . All in name of god..

Another incident which is shocking and worth condemning is chopping of hands of christian professor in kerala by some Islamic fanatic. Professor’s crime was that he is alleged of insulting Muhammad. Now what professor did was hurting religious sentiment and what is civilized way of bringing professor to justice?. Launch a police complain and get the professor arrested. Did these fanatic do that?. Well no. They used ways which are obsolete , violent and worth condemning as human ,irrespective of whether one is hindu or Muslim or christian or Sikh or anything . They simply chopped his hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If chopping hands or slaughter of hindus in deganga or gujarat riots is shocking , well a church in Florida has decided to burn qurans on 9/11/2001. Now how does burning quran help?. Only this church can answer but Islamic center near ground zero is said to have created anti Islam drive in usa and many are actually supporting the burning.

Fanatics of every religion view world in very narrow prism. World for them is we v/s they. Those who believe in their book or prophet or god come in category of “We” ,while those who dont they fall in category of “They”. “WE” too has lot of divisions but “They” is what these fanatics either want to convert or eliminate. In the process of dividing world into we v/s they , what these fanatics forget is religion is for humans and not animals and killing anyone or destroying their cherished places in not being human. What ever god they worship cannot be happy seeing people getting killed and there cannot be any heaven for murders.

Religion is lethal if misunderstood and can bring animal out of humans. Riots , killings,murders,demolishing worship places. That is not religion .

As world is becoming more and more smaller place , the interaction between people with different regional identity , different faith and different nationality would increase. Human race is neither hindu or muslim or christian or sikh or parsi. It is human race. Deep within we all are same , beneath the layers of hindus or muslims or christians is a human being who loves ,hopes,desires ,dreams. This human is universal and this human needs to evolve and brought into daily life.

Whether I call almighty as allah or god or shiv or jesus is my personal matter and it should be the case. When any human being walks out of his house,he is just representative of human race.

Today My client called me at four p.m. to reschedule our meeting from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. I confirmed the rescheduling and left my office at 4.30 pm. While I was driving through the traffic ,I saw a hoarding which picture of narendra modi. It read -’Kesari ae to tirango no aangh ,congress kaahe ae atankvaad no rang’ which means ‘saffron is part of national flag,while congress calls it color of terrorism’.

As soon as chidambaram spoke those two words , BJP went on offensive. Generally two words found most offensive start dont start with s and t but these ones did. ‘Saffron Terror’. Considering how seasoned chidambaram is ,both in politics as well as in his law profession , he knew what he was speaking about and he knew what this words would directly,indirectly mean.

BJP , on other hand has right to attack because saffron is not just color of extremist outfits but also color of BJP flag (which has green too),RSS too and as that hoarding rightly said color present in our national flag too.

Saffron is not just limited to above three ,it is part of Indian culture. It is in flags of temple , it is color of sacrifice and it is color cherished by India since centuries. But did BJP get offended because of that?.Did chidambaram meant that when he occured those two words?

Answer in No. Chidambaram was not targeting general Indian masses .He was targeting fanatics in Hindus. Now if you ask any muslim about jihad and jihadi?. They would immediately react that jihad is part of Islam and obligatory on muslims but these so called jihadis are not part of Islam. Islam can do no harm to innocent is common belief shared by muslims all across the world which is perfectly understandable but it remains a fact that fanatics in muslims are cause of concerns for even muslim dominated countries like pakistan , afghanistan, Iraq , Sudan ,Somalia . According to those fanatics their version of Islam is true Islam and rest followers or believers have corrupted true belief system.

As muslims are usually in denial about these jihadi , Hindus are more or less equally in denial with possibility of fanatics in Hinduism. True Hinduism does not have single book which can be used for mis interpretation. True Hinduism believes that there are many ways to god . True Hinduism does not belief in conversion and Hinduism does not have strong belief in heaven and prefer moksha above heaven. A soul harming any innocent would get re birth and would be stuck in end less cycle of births is what Hinduism believes in but still that didn’t stop bombs getting exploded in places where investigation is leading towards fanatics among Hindus. It didn’t stop girls getting bashed outside manglore pub .

When we need to view fanatic , we need to look at larger view. We need to look humans beings as plain human beings not tagged as Hindus,Muslims ,Christians or other religious units…When we talk about Muslims or Hindus or Christians we aren’t talking about individuals but groups.Groups which are crores and fanaticm being human phenomena ,the bug can bite any one and fanaticm is based on ideology not religion only. Ideology that ‘my way is the only way, rest have to fall in line or perish’. Naxals are fanatics too though they don’t believe in any religion. Taliban are fanatics too , though they believe is radical Islam . Christianity has had its share of fanaticm and crusader is perfect example of that.

As human being we must nurture our coming generation in environment where co existence of various faith can exist together. We often blame pakistan but forget what pakistan is right now going through. All eminent scholars , media personnels and liberal of pakistan agree that pakistan is paying price of inducing extremism in their country , twenty years back.

If we dont learn from our neighbours , we too are heading their way.(by we I mean Indians which includes every person living in India irrespective of faith he/she follows). So chidambaram’s point must not get lost in color controversy. It does have important message in it.

Now coming back to color which chidambaram mentioned. Well he made sure his comments serves the purpose . Saffron terror can work for congress in getting votes from minority and liberals while saffron can very well mean bjp,rss instead of purohit and pragyas..It is like hitting two birds with one stone.

But if chidambaram can hit stone , narendra modi has always been successful in catching same stone and hitting it back. The hoarding says it all. Narendra Modi ,irrespective of extreme emotions he generates ,if one views him with prejudice , he is master is using any situation to best of his advantage. The more congress tries to gain political mileage by nailing right wing ,the more powerful modi would become in gujarat.

Modi and congress actually work to each others advantage. Being popular among their respective voters who fear/hate/worry about each other and it works. Saffron terror or Jihadi ..It works but amidst war of words , amidst emotions attached to saffron , we must not forget larger context and perceptive. India is liberal democracy and only thing which we need in India is implementing constitution in letter and spirit. Nailing fanatic muslims , fanatic sikhs , fanatic hindus and every person who can be threat to right of belief , freedom of expression and constitution of India.-Jai Hind

Faisal shahzad , the pakistani born , usa citizen who tried to blow bomb at new york times square pleaded guilty.

He described himself as muslim soldier while his attempt as part of answer to usa. Calling it war he didn’t regret trying to target citizen. According to him citizen of usa are not different since they elect governments.

He described his failed attempt as revenge of usa’s occupation on Muslim lands , drone attack on Somalia , pakistan and military operations in afghanistan and Iraq.

He also warned usa that till it continues with its occupation , operations and attacks , more attacks of usa might occur.

Now this so called muslim soldier failed to see that time square is busy street and muslims too might had got killed in bomb would have triggered.

What this so called muslim soldier also failed to see that drone attacks in pakistan are aimed at people who kill fellow muslims like they killed so many in pakistan , itself.

What this so called muslim soldier failed to see is sadam too killed muslims like he claims usa did by invading Iraq.

What this so called muslim soldier also failed to see is so many muslims who live in europe and usa in search of better life in terms of money and quality.

The most important thing which faizal failed to see is global politics and myth that muslims are one nation. Because if that would have been the case , we wont have had so many different countries in arab world , we wont have seen iran-iraq war , we wont have seen iraq invadin kuwait and we wont have seen so many blood sheds for power in history of muslim world.

This post is not about defending usa . What usa is doing is what it thinks its best to serve its interest while what it uses a means for serving its interest are not kids as far as government heads or countries are concerned. They work as per what they think is best for them.

Did usa force pakistan to become launching pad for jihadis fighting against ussr. Pervez now mentions that problems which pakistan faces today are side effects of ussr war.

Did usa force karzai to become president or for that matter iraqi politicians?. They could have refused if they wanted but they thought it to be best for themselves and their country to be part of the plan.

It is high time for people of various faith to realize that religion and politics are two different things. Latter has used former to gain access to power but later is not former.

No faith in the world has stopped people from using other people , murdering others , slaughtering others , no matter what religion preaches.

If people like faizal really want to do good for their community and really curb usa’s interference , the works starts at home. Make sure that people are served , nurtured and made effectiv force which prosper economically , scientifically . Once that is done , rest would fall in place.

Terrorism wont help and it would give bad name to community and innocent , peaceful people would suffer.

It is season of fatwas for largest muslim seminary in India , Darul Uloom of Deoband.  Answering to various question posted to them from various people ,all across India , deoband is coming up with new fatwas everyday.

First they had fatwa for working women in which they called for using veil in office and not mingle with male colleagues. This fatwa was slammed by liberal muslims like javed akhtar.

Liberals in every religion are more focused towards essence of religion than traditions and liberals are always threatened by so called religious followers who get confused with religion and tradition. Javed akhtar too received threat for his comments of fatwa for working women.

After fatwa for working women , deoband issued another fatwa against birthday celebrations. According to them such celebrations are jews and chrisitian inititatives and not as per Islam. This too has mixed reactions.

But now deoband have come up with fatwa which would be hailed by liberal muslims as well as any right thinking person , irrespective of religion.

The new fatwa states that every muslim girl should get educated . According to deoband , the  man who educates his daughter , sister , takes care of them and marrys them to nice family gets heaven. Education is must for both man and woman in Islam and the backwardness of muslims (Indian muslims) is largely because of lack of education.

Woman cannot work where they have to mingle with man without veil . Woman cannot mingle with her male colleagues.

This are views of largest muslim seminary in India , Darul Uloom of Deoband who has issued fatwa against muslim women and asked them to veil themselves and not mix with male colleagues.

Maulana Abul Irfan Firangimahli , a sunni cleric has backed the fatwa stating that career oriented women might get good life here but they are answerable to god (allah) after death.

Few months back a influential muslim  had slammed working women citing that their chief role is nurturing kids . This he had said during woman reservation bill debate.

Woman’s role concerns are not limited to religion is subcontinent and old civilization belts. Many hindu bodies precribe to similar views about woman , her roles and are against woman opting for careers.

Ironically this fatwa comes just day after independent report of plight of mothers in India. India stands 73rd in list of 77 countries as far as woman health is concerned.

How is this fatwa and report related?. Well majority of men (specially other than metro/mega cities) are first people to define what is woman role but convinently forget what is man’s role!!!!!!

The more woman becomes financially independent , the better she would be able to live life confidently and more she is likely to take care of herself , her children and also have relationship with her husband on equal terms. Most important thing for happy married life.

Needless to say this fatwa has been slammed by working muslim woman.

Ajmal kasab’s hearing finally ended today and verdict would be given by court on may 3rd. Kasab , the lone terrorist who was captured on 26/11 , the day India saw biggest terror attack in its history.

10 pakistanis entered India from sea and went on killing spree. The terror attack which saw more than 150 people getting killed. Indians , Foreigners , Hindus , Muslims ,Rich , Poors all becoming victim of so called jihadis.

Laskhar ae toyba is blamed for the attack and for first time pakistan has arrested lashkar’s man for 26/11 attack. Hafiz saeed is still free. Hafiz saeed who is leader of laskhar and one who claims to represent Muslims of subcontinent inspired people like kasab to go for killing spree . In the event that followed ,muslims too got killed reflecting that ideology of lashkar is not pro muslim but anti human.

Kasab’s verdict would come on may 3rd on basis of evidences and witnesses which numbered to 653!!!!!!!!!!

One verdict is out in case of kasab . This kid can act. He can create stories which can make even harry potter’s writer run for her money. Had he not been terrorist , he could have been good screen play writer!!!!!!!!!

26/11 was India’s 9/11. Intelligence failure , lack of coordination among police, ill equipped police , irresponsible statements from ministers , brave police officers giving life to save the city, irresponsible statement from kerala chief minister , outrage among Indians. 26/11 saw it all.

26/11 saw sacking of India’s home minister , maharashtra chief minister and maharashtra’s home minister. Ironcially all three are having good post now. Shivraj patil is governor , vilashrao is cabinet minister and r r is back as home minister of maharashtra. Our politicians never change!!!!!!!!

It did see some important changes though on security aspects. It did see establishment of NIA , better coordination between agencies , state equipping police , India waking to reality of investing in its defence and frequency of analysis of security apparatus.

Now verdict in the case would come on may 3rd. Loss of life can never be filled again. We can just pray to lord that souls of those who lost their life in this senseless violence , rest in peace and for all martyrs , we can just pay our homage . We are proud of them and because of these son of soils , we can sleep in peace inspite of baade sher , choti baatein type of ministers.

Home minister of India , Mr Chidambaram in question hours session said that honor killing soon would be put into different category of crimes.

Honor Killing is one of worst form of crimes which are committed in India , every year where families or panchayats murder couple or rape women in name of justice!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of social evils which can shame even the most backward countries of the world but it still prevails in name of age old system/parampara/culture

Some of the cases are as mentioned below:

1) A couple belonging to same gothra marry. Panchayat declares marriage illegal . To save their lives couple run away from the village.

Months later family of girl , emotionally persuade her to come to meet them. She falls into the trap and go to her family. She goes missing. The husband feared that she has been killed and files police complain. Police along with husband enters the village , where villagers attack the man and kills him. Even police men get injured in the incident.

2) A Muslim woman marries Hindu man in kashmir. Both of them are murdered by woman’s family in name of honor.

3) Nineteen-year-old Poonam was thrown into a canal by her Jat relatives in January this year, for marrying a Dalit boy.Poonam was rescued though.

The above mentioned are few of cases which happen in India. In name of honor the very family turns worst form of enemies. Slaughtering their own kins, even raping girls .

This needs to be dealt as separate issue rather than including in category of murders and rapes.

Blond hair , blue eyed jane with mission to kill , kill a Swedish artist who did hurt sentiments of Muslims in general and jane in particular.

Jane converted to ISLAM and is said to be desperate to ease suffering of Muslims . She is accused of recruiting jihadist fighters and traveling to Europe from USA to kill Swedish artist.

She called herself Jihad Jane in a YouTube video in which she said she was “desperate to do something somehow to help” ease the suffering of Muslims.

While I read this news , I remembered another article written by Pakistani cultural critic in leading Pakistani daily. I remember a sentence from his article-’The biggest sufferers of so called jihad by terrorist are Muslims itself. Because Muslims have to undergo emotional , social back lash from the world for act of these (terrorist) cowardly people”.

How true. Muslims have suffered from these Muslims more than anyone else. In another article myth called Muslims dont kill Muslims was slammed by writer who himself was muslim. He cited bomb blast in pakistan , Iraq,afghanisthan and many other places of the world where so called jihadis have killed muslim people.

Now coming to jane. Jane is from usa and have converted to ISLAM. She felt desperate urge to ease suffering of muslims. Now there are group of muslims who feel that usa is satan regime which has time and again worked against muslims countries. They believe USA has exploited muslim countries , having killed muslims. Iraq , Afghanistan are examples they give where as backing of ISRAEL is another thing they talk about.

Now lets for sake of argument say muslims have suffered from christians , jews and  Hindus and even comminist in china. So people like jane try to take revenge or go for jihad against these communities. Now what if one wants to clean the world , first thing is to start with one’s home. Isn’t it?. So jane should first try to ease sufferings of muslims by muslims.

Exploitation by muslim landlord of muslims workers which leads to their suffering or two India muslims women who were kept as slave in saudi arabia by their muslim owners or killing of innoent muslim women by taliban in pakistan or muslim lives lost in Iraq due to bombing by terrorist. Jane should have begun from these places .

Who is more worse , artist not belonging to your faith insulting your religion or person claiming to be of your faith and insulting the very principals of your religion?

Again what jane wanted must not involve killing , violent means. It shatters the very foundation of religions since religion doesnot prescribe to violence.

Story of jane is similar to many many disillusioned people from all across the globe .
