ISI chief Mr Pasha came under much criticism during OBL (Osama Bin Laden) episode of abbottabad ,when usa forces entered pakistan and killed osama bin laden. The same pasha warned India and said that India should not even think about such operations and targets within India have been identified and any such mis adventure would be dealt with strongly.

Had pasha made such statements in 1970s , it would have made perfect sense. India and Pakistan were in state of being enemies . Today India doesnot trust pakistan and Pakistan to has lack of trust for India.

All whose’s who of world of terror in India’s list live in pakistan. Be it be dawood ibrahim , hafiz saeed , maulana azhar , illiyas kashmiri, Khalistan terrorist, salauddin and many others live in pakistan . It is purely logically and understandable that India has interest to do something like what usa did in pakistan to kill OBL.

But having interest is different thing and having political will is different thing. ISI and Pakistan army knows that India lacks what it takes to have such operation. India wont like to go for war at this stage when it is moving towards rapid economic growth. Secondly such operation would force pakistan army to go for war against India. India is not usa against which both pakistan government and pakistan army is helpless. Yes it is fact that pakistan too can’t afford war at this stage when it is having war within and disturbed economy. India can still sustain war , pakistan cannot and war is not won just on fields but it needs lot of money and diplomatic efforts too.

India which sees itself evolving as stable , robust economy wont want to rock the ship . The point which ISI and Pakistan army knows well and so doesnot shy away from any opportunity to bleed India.

On other hand pakistan civilian government desires good relationship with India , which even Indian civilian government is willing for.

Amidst this , statement of pasha seems more for pakistani people than for India. Ironically just day after pasha made this statement , saudi diplomat was shot dead in karachi. Just couple of days back pakistan saw major terror attack when paramilitary personnels got killed in twin blast. Dead toll was around 86.

So if Mr Pasha wants to identify targets , he needs to identify taliban where abouts which are killing more pakistanis than americans. He needs to identify targets like mullah omar , haqani , illiyas kashmiri to makes sure pakistan remains safe. I understand that nailing dawood or hafiz saeed is against ISI’s interest but those who are harming pakistan must be his first priority rather than threatening India which is no longer enemy number 1 of Pakistan.

I also suggest Mr Pasha should enter politics after retirement because he is talking like politician. Remember ‘videshi taqat’ punch line of politicians in India before globalization?.  These sounds something similar.

Also lastly I would like to advise Mr Pasha to give up dawood and all extremist. Extremist doesnot have any loyalty and when they point guns on you is something which no one knows. USA created OBL and then did spent hell lot of money to kill him. USA also payed prices in terms of lives of civilians and forces. Supporting extremist is big mistake and I hope isi learns it ,before it is too late. Isn’t it?

Hafeez Saeed, the man who is master mind of 26/11 is back in news. This time he did nothing different than what he has done for his entire life. Hafeez Saeed is one man who forgot that religion’s main purpose is love and if one misses the core principal of religion , he/she has no right to call himself/herself to be religious person.

Hafeez Muhammad Saeed is a man who has been working for what he calls is getting justice for kashmiris . His modus of operation has been using innocent muslims as weapon , sending them across the border to get killed , so that kashmir remains of edge. The price of his quest has been paid by many innocent people like 26/11 victims , security forces and worst sufferers have been  kashmiris themselves.

The impact of hafeez saeed type of personality has been slow death of kashmir culture which is slowly getting hijacked by whabhis . The peace loving sufi based culture of kashmir has seen jihad brigade fighting with Indian forces and in turn making valley hell to live in.

What people like hafeez saeed doesnot understand is that in end subcontinent would have multiple religions like it has had since thousands of years and using religion as tool to meet political ends can be suicidal and create environment which would cause trouble for entire region.

Hafeez Saeed can learn lesson from Russia Afghan episode where ISI , CIA created ghost called taliban and now same taliban is killing innocent pakistanis and muslims by their own version of ISLAM. The reason I am using word muslim in this article is because hafeez saeed believes he is pious muslim and he sees world from prism of religion only. For people like hafeez saeed there are only two kinds of people in the world. One are muslims and another are non muslims. I pity such narrow way of thoughts.

Hafeez Saeed made rare public appearance recently . He prayed for religious leader of Kashmir who got killed in recent bomb blast. During his prayer speech , he said India and Pakistan can never be friends . He slammed cricket diplomacy , trade relationship.

For man who lives by hating India and hindus , we can’t expect him to be like so many good muslims who want friendship to prevail. There are people like hafeez saeed in India too. They were different outfits and are hindus but their hatred is matched by hatred of hafeez saeed. Only difference between them and hafeez saeed is that hafeez saeed has been able to spread his terror network!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indians and Pakistanis are very similar being, even if both of them go on denying it. At core both love life , family , want good for their country , want to live good life , want to excel , expand and lead a successful life. We share more than what we differ upon and as Fatima Bhutto puts , we are sibling country.

Yes most Indians would love to have good relationship with pakistan but are skeptical about it . In same way most Pakistanis too are skeptical about it. But as optimistic person  , I believe things would change for better. I believe peace is possible. I believe workable relationship is possible.

It may seems to be impossible thing for many , it may be seem to be uphill task for many but history shows that hatred is end is defeated. Better sense prevails in the end and it would prevail in the end.

Coming generation would have more and more opportunity to interact with each other using web mediums with increase of number of people online .

The more people interact , the more doubts would die and hatred would slowly come down. In end both would be able to see humans beneath tags like muslim or hindu or Indian or Pakistani.

Mr Hafeez Saeed , your hatred would be defeated in coming 50 years. I believe.

India, Pakistan match was named all mother of all matches. The entire nation was glued to television and even offices had either day off or half day for very important match. Dr Manmohan singh invited prime minister gilani and gilani accepted Invitation to view the match.

The frozen relationship took new turn on that day and Both Indian team as well as Pakistan team played match in good spirit. The match though lost by pakistan won billion hearts by its performance and grace with which shahid afridi reacted.

The same shahid afridi in talk show conveyed his cynicism about Indo-Pak relationship. Being Pakistani , he claimed that Indians can never have bigger hearts like Pakistanis and Like most Pakistanis who forget that India is home to 16 crore plus muslims claimed that Indians can never have clean heart like muslims which allah had given to them.

He criticized Indian media and said that it is difficult for Pakistanis to live with India and talks wont change anything much. He without naming USA blamed it for spoiling relationship between both and also came down heavily on negative approach of Indian Media for spoiling relationship .

He criticized gautam gambir for his statment of dedicating Indian win to mumbai victims(26/11) stating that this is politics and how does one know who did 26/11!!!!!!!!!!. For every Indian 26/11 is something which can never be forgotten and will never be forgotten. It was war waged on us by 10 idiots who didnt understand that in end they were killing fellow human beings. If shahid afridi doesnot know who did that may be its FIA ,Rehman malik , nawaz sharif and zardari can help him reach conclusion .

Shahid afridi is not first player from pakistan who had said bit of negative things about Indians . Sohail tanvir’s youtube video is well known and I dont want to get into that.

Well as Indian yes I did feel surprised and hurt by shahid’s comments. But when I look at end result we want with Pakistan and that is having harmonious relationship in future , I rate this comments as his opinion and misunderstanding. I also read tweet by a Pakistan citizen following Indian victory which states that he was proud neighbor of world champions India. I also read comments from an Pakistani who runs an NGO who felt that it is great to have all Asian final and she feels proud that cup remains in Asia. I also take into account statement of zardari that in every Pakistani there lives an Indian.

I hail statements made by rehman malik after India won world cup, statements of prime minister gilani and Prime minister dr manmohan singh after mohali match. The intent is right and direction is right. Let us not get carried away by shahid afridi’s statement. What he said is what he thought about Indian media and he is entitled to have his opinion. It is similar to Indian movie dialogue ..

The focus of Indians and Pakistanis should be to remove misunderstandings which we have had since last 63 years and not adding into ti. The path to have good relationship is thorny , slippery and for many impossible. But after fighting 3 wars and one mini war , it is also time to look and introspect.

We are responsible about how we want relationships of our two nations to be in coming 100 years. Do we want to commit same blunders which our ancestors committed or do we want to leave space after us which is conducive for growth of both countries?. The choice is ours and we have to make it whether we want to make it or not because by not choosing , we are pursuing the choices made by our ancestors in past.

Coming to shahid afridi well I admire him for what he did with his team and his comments are different thing and his leadership is totally different thing. It is not easy to have top three players banned . It is not easy when you dont know whether you would lead the team in world cup or not before 2 weeks of the event. But still shahid afridi went on to beat srilanka and Australia and performed with ball like never before . He did great job and I salute him for that. For his comments I would say well ignore it and let it not distract us from pursuing better lives for both countries and better relationship . In end India ,Pakistan share many things in common and misunderstanding on both side does not take away the commonness and quest of peace.

P.S. – Shahid afridi today has stated that he was quoted out of context and he always loves to play in India and loves Indian people. I think we should close this chapter and looks forward to engage with our neighbours in more constructive manner so that we can have peaceful subcontinent ,50 years down the line. I know it seems difficult but hope makes world go round…

Yesterday was grand debate session in news channels. Grand because all had it . Topic was one of favorite topics , India -Pakistan talks. While Indian channels were angry over qureshi’s statement about s.m.krishna , there were many different options about why pakistan did what it did during talks , how press conference could have been handled in better way , what pakistan wants (according to individuals participating in debate). I am sure such debates might have taken place in pakistan news channels too.

While experts differed in most part of debate , most agreed on one part. News media’s role. Most agreed that press conference did played very important part in creating negativity in India-Pakistan talks which were recently held. Most had opinion that talks should be held away from media glare and media should be brought in only where negotitations have been reached.

Some experts believed that both India and Pakistan official play to galary through media and none wants to risk their political base and voters.

While this does have a valid point. News media plays very important role in evolving how we perceive about events which effect nation. If pakistan is listed in failed state , it does top headlines , if pakistan is listed in most unstable state , again that news finds place in headlines. But few report pakistan’s support for CWG games or India’s bid for non permanent member in security council. (Now critics would say it would oppose permanent seat. Well sure it would, would we support pakistan’s bid in present relationship status?).

Similarly in Pakistan’s daily , news about Kashmir or naxal would surely make headlines but India’s assistance in IMF loan to Pakistan?. Well it needed British foreign secretary to make that announcement. In one forum a pakistani was asked ‘what has gandhi done for them?’. Ironically gandhiji’s threat of fast unto death till India releases pakistan’s due during partition was find event which trigger nathuram godse’s decision to kill mahatma. This has been written by nathuram himself in his last letter. But pakistan media won’t print that!!!!!!!!. Similarly Indian media wont print positives of what pakistan does.

On other side of story news media is doing some wonderful things too. Geo tv and times of India’s aman ki asha is one of peace initiatives. Like wise ruchika , jessica , nitish kataria wont have seen justice if media won’t have created public pressure. Bhopal gas did spark outrage in civil society of India , courtesy news media.(It is different matter that daal , roti khao theme lets us forget things so easily)

So partial blame on news media about how pakistan perceives India and how India perceives Pakistan is valid but at same time without news media ,’hum sab chor hain’ theme would rule India and Pakistan without check.

They met because they were asked to meet. They discussed because they were asked to discuss. They listened to each other because they were given mandate to built trust. When S.M.Krishna went to meet Quershi , this “pakistan calling” episode was not for break throughs. It was for listening to where both countries stand and look for openings.

As both of them addressed press , differences in various issues was for every ones to see. From pillai to kashmir to Baluchistan , pakistan had many things to talk about while India had terrorism , trial of 26/11 , inflitration to discuss about.

As press asked question qureshi and krishna answered. They answered as if both of them were not in same press conference.
Nothing seemed common between two . While diplomats cried foul , at least the most positive aspect of press conference was honesty. Both foreign ministers honestly and frankly spoke about where they stand and what is their view point.

The most surprising statement as Indian for me was quershi’s comparision of Mr Pillai (Home secretary of India) with infamous

Hafiz Saeed , supremo of banned lashkar ae toyba and Jammat ud dawa. Now how can a rowdy element’s inflammatory speech compared with home secretary of any country?. Home secretary won’t utter a word without knowing what he is saying while people like saeed can create stories to get backing of illiterates to cause terror attacks in India.Hafiz saeed doesnot know that there are third largest number of muslims of the world  in India. He prefers to call India as hindus and it looks like he knows hindus more than hindus know themself.Hafiz has never stayed with hindus and has been mostly with muslims still he can write ‘why hindus are what they are’ encyclopedia. It is different matter that when JUD was banned , it’s website used hindu’s photo and write up about how JUD helped pakistani hindu families during earthquake. Using minority to avoid getting banned is famous trait of right wing groups all across the globe ,including India.

Coming back to qureshi , Never the less qureshi did think that a home secretary of India has equal weightage as hafiz saeed of pakistan!!!!!!!!. Now Indian press would take saeed’s statement more as official word!!!!!!!.

The hafiz saeed-Pillai saga did serve purpose of Indian press which was looking for some masala as well as opposition which cried foul and accused krishna of not standing by to home secretary.

If you replay the press conference you would come to know that krishna was half asleep when qureshi said famous words ‘both of us agreed that statement was uncalled for’. Before krishna could understand what he agreed with , press had another question and humhaar krishna did miss the bus.

Visit ended with no break throughs (nobody expected any though) but with ‘phir kab miloge , jab tum kahoge’ theme. Qureshi is expected to have ‘India calling’ theme , somewhere in November.

India and Pakistan are two countries whose relation can never make sense if third country/persons views it. Two nations separated since Independence. Two nations which often have two different versions for same event in history. Two nations which share genes , culture , most of food and to many extent destinies. India is land of more than 110 crore people while Pakistan has 18 crores. India is second most fasted economy in the world while pakistan is considered to be next big thing (if it gets is right) by world bank. India has highest number of poors (from 25% to 77% considering which report one sees) , while pakistan economy suffers because of bush’s stone age threat and taliban’s new found wisdom of making pakistan as per what they believe is Islam.

Both countries have exponential possibilities if both can get to work together and assist in creating peaceful environment.

Ordinary people of both countries though tagged as muslims , Indian muslims , Hindu , sikhs and many others , behind these tags and layers lies a emotional human being who wants to give best to his/her family , have good life and see his/her nation prosper. That is common ground where foreigner ministers can work upon.

No matter how much Indians and Pakistanis bash each other, fact remains that we need to be more realistic in our approach. We have had 3 wars , one mini war , has it solved issues?. India is facing terrorism since 20 years , did India give up kashmir?. India has been pressurizing pakistan for terrorism since last so many years , did that stop terrorism?. Pakistan has been trying to get kashmir issue solved since last 63 years , did it get solved?. So it is better to talk , talk and talk till we can achieve break throughs.

Should India keep talking while pakistan keeps shooting?. This question was asked to me by one of blog’s reader. Well valid point. Why do we keep talking when pakistan allows saeeds and salauddins to keep attacking India?. Ofcourse we need our concerns addressed. When pakistan says it is victim of terror , it is partially right. The full statement should be that pakistan is victim of terror mechanism which was created by ISI and CIA during soviet’s invasion of afghanistan. Where as India is victim of terror which was nurtured by previous regimes of pakistan and pakistan needs to deal with it. But at same time we need to engage with pakistan to get our concerns addressed.

To be fair with pakistan , they too have concerns and their own agendas. They have every right to have one. Without discussion we cannot have conducive environment to make sure things turn out positively for Indians and Pakistanis who would be born after 50 years.

P.S. : After this post was written Mr qureshi blamed India on selective approach and also questioned krishna’s mandate. 26/11 is very important issue for India and emotional issue for Indians. Life is not same after 26/11 and these concerns need to be addressed before others issues can be handled.

India And Pakistan

In a social networking site where Indians and Pakistanis meet online , discussion was going on about independence movement. During the discussion a Pakistani asked question -’yeh nehru kya gandhi ke bete the?’.. Initially most Indians thought that this pakistani is joking. But he was serious. When his question was answered in negative then he said -’ohh , mujhe laga yeh rahul , sonia sab gandhi ke family ke hi hain’…
