Poonam Pandey had promised to go clothes less ,if India wins the world cup 2011. M S Dhoni hit six in final match and brought lakhs on streets for celebration. Poonam Pandey seems to have got inspired from our politicians and did what manish tewari did during anna’s fast. She simply vanished from the scene.

But now she is back (and so is manish tewari!!!!!!!!!). She is back by partially meeting her promise and posting pic on tweeter in which she wore as less as possible. While she has so far got good response from people who have viewed her pic , larger question is what does team India need?.

Does they need a 19 year old model from mumbai shedding clothes to win?. Do they need someone going on fast to win?. Do they need media bashing to win?. Do they need ex player’s advise to win?.

Well what they need is BCCI running professionally and having proper plan for players. What they need is enough break and enough time for better preparation. What they need is 15 days preparation time in overseas before international matches begin. What they need is proper rotation policy allowing players to have personal space to keep themselves mentally and physically fit and what they need most is having IPL as second priority in front of national duty.

But what they need is not what BCCI seems to be interested in. What BCCI is interested in is turn over . Money runs the world, honey seems to be their mantra and with IPL (Indian Premier League) entering the scene with crores and crores and crores being given to players , it seems playing test or onedays or even t-20 for country is inspiring but money flowing from IPL is more important and players in recent times have been seen risking their injuries but still playing for their club.

To be fair with players ,earning money is their right and if they can use their skill,their brand for making money it is perfectly ok but at same time it is not the game but people who love the game which makes player a star , a celebrity. BCCI and Players must understand this as “golden rule”.

What team India needs is “Want” to win and for that they need to have proper preparation, proper schedules and obviously right priorities. I am not as much worried about one days as I am for test matches. In one days we have good replacements who can coming in and do their bit and win matches , but in test matches with likes of tendulkar,dravid and laxman on final phase of their careers and with IPL, T-20 being new aspiration for players , our test squad would be vulnerable in middle order soon.

While poonam pandey declaring and now posting her pic might be doing what she thinks is right way to get into media headlines and inspiring team India (as per her claims) , team india doesnot need her shedding of clothes to win..

BCCI is always in news. Be it be for sacking of coaches without informing them in person or be it be for tussle with ICL or for suspending lalit modi. BCCI always is in news.

Now BCCI is is news for another wrong reason. BCCI wont be sending Indian team for asian games. Reasons they have given is that they have prior commitments and also domestic season which according to BCCI Board member is more important!!!!!!!!!!!

BCCI has been slammed by whose who of Indian sports faternity. Boxer vijender slammed bcci and asked for cricket to be thrown out of asian games . He could not buy the reason of commitment and stated that they too have commitments but playing for nation comes above everything.

Kalmadi took dig on bcci stating that he was never keen to have cricket for common wealth games while sports minister doesnot seems amused.

While srilanka and pakistan are all set for participating in asian games , BCCI seems adamant on their decision.

For BCCI it seems playing for nation can wait !!!!!!!

India made it to super 8 easily. It was pitched against first timer afghanisthan and strong southafrica. India won both the match but credit should also be given to afghanisthan. Playing for first time one of its batsman went on to make 50 runs and if taliban doesnot have its way , afghanisthan can become test playing side in another decade.

Coming back to dhoni and his men , now India would play australia on 7th , westIndies on 9th and srilanka on 11th.

The super 8 teams have been divided into two groups and top two teams of each group would enter semifinal.

Australia is totally changed team in t-20 format. They seemed to be more committed than previous two occasion. Their pace bowlers are their key.Dirk Nannes , Shaun Tait , Mitchell Johnson ,Shane Watson make a awesome attack. Nannes can be miser , while tait can beat with sheer pace , johnson is fast and can bat too. Watson is find for australia since couple of years now and has ability to win matches single handely with his batting as well as bowling.

Their batting too can be destructive with likes of watson,warner , david hussey , haddin and wright in the squad aided by experienced clark and mike hussey.

India would have too play their best to beat australia. Gambhir is not in his prime touch , vijay is in good nick but last dismisal showed he need to take care of swing in early overs . Raina is in prime form while dhoni too looks in good touch. We need big gun yuvraj to fire , if he does India would win easily.

Next on cards is westIndies team which plays against India on 9th. WestIndies is second most unpredictable team after pakistan . Gayles can fire big guns , bravo too is regaining his touch and pollard can be destructive as we have seen in IPL.

India then plays slightly out of touch srilanka. In t-20 format nothing is predictable. Mahela is in great touch , mathews too has been in good form. Their two big guns dilshan , sangarkara are not at their best and we just hope they dont get their form back against India.

India needs to win atleast two out of three matches to make into semis. Let us hope India plays as per its potential.

April was best month for Indian News Media. In highly competitive environment that mainly generates revenue from advertisement  delivering news to Indian audience is not easy. Rakhi sawant is bigger news than some bill in parliament , katrina-salman are trp gainers for channels , astrology is important theme and ghost stories is part of ingredient.

Naxals do matter when they strike , pranab does matter when he hikes prices of something but in most of time , majority are happy with gossips of bollywood , parties of rich and famous and sixes of batsman.

People are not to be blamed since they already have tough life and dont want to get more tensions by news that matter.

April 2010 was exciting and rewarding month for news media. They were caught sleeping by sania’s love saga but once they got the news , they went to make most of it. Sania-Sohaib Malik were ideal masala story. Indian girl wants to marry pakistani man , both are stars and there is another angle of ayesha siddiqui. What more would news seeker need?

Crying ayesha , her nika nama , sohaib’s denial , sania’s support was flavor of first half of april. But it seemed the party for news media would end till lalit modi came to their rescue. He tweeted famous -’Yeh sunanda puskhar kaun hai’ and media forgot sania and went after sunanda puskhar and shashi tharoor. While sania story had only three characters , lalit modi saga had many to make it a big hit.

It involved minister , a woman , IPL , modi . It served the purpose perfectly. Modi’s lifestyle , sunanda’s profile , south african model , irregularities in Ipl all made its way from reporter brain to our drawing rooms.

Alas this story to ended with shashi resigning and lalit being suspended. It looked like news media would have usual stories of crime and such things but entered madhuri and desai.

While madhuri did unthinkable of being spy for pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!, desai did make money granting permission to colleges. Both did make headlines but madhuri overshadowed desai.

Finally month ended with smiling dr manmohan singh and gilani pledging ‘yeh dosti hum nahi todenge theme’ . It was same old story while dr singh stating that India wants good relationship with pakistan ,wants stable pakistan , won’t interfere in internal matters and stop terror. Gilani went on his usual script of not allowing anyone to use his territory against India. Guess he was reading from pervez’s script of 2004.

Now another month would start and who knows what it has in store?.

IPL Season 3 ended with two finals. One was on cricketing ground where chennai did beat mumbai to lift the throphy. Another was between manohar and lalit modi and needless to say ‘Big Boss Kaun’ was proven by suspension of Lalit Modi.

We have all heard about medicines ke side effects , shaadi ke side effects and pyaar ke side effects but what we have seen in last 10-12 days is twitter ke side effects.

Few months back a person was arrested in europe who had tweeted his frustration of not being able to go home because one airport could not function due to cold weather. He tweeted that he would blow off airport and this tweet landed him in jail. That was twitter ke side effects.

Our ex minister of state for foreign ministry landed himself in trouble three-four times for his tweets. First he called economy class as cattle class , then he expressed his views that there should be no holiday on gandhi jayanti and people should work more on that day (he was right but politically incorrect as per his party ), lastly he tweeted about visa policy. His twitter ke side effect saw him visit sonia gandhi , time and again to give explaination.

But what proved fatal for him as far as his being minister is concerned was not side effects from his tweets but that of lalti modi’s.

Lalit modi tweeted and ‘kyunki ek tweet ,insaan ko resign karva deta hai aur pure hindustan mein i.t. , ed ki raid padva deta hai’ became the theme.

Now his tweet can cause him his job as IPL chief!!!!!!!. Tweet karo magar dhyaan se might be new slogan for rich, powerful of India.

IPL 2010 started with controvery of snubbing pakistani players during the auction. Pakistani Media , Indian Media , People from both sides of border had variety of opinions on it.

Soon srk joined the debate and it led to political angle with shiv sena against srk who got support from liberals, general Indians and congress.

Once that got over and IPL started all seemed well till kochi thing happen. Tharoor was forced to resign and media is reporting that lalit modi would also be asked to step down.

Amidst all the controversy one thing has stood tall in this IPL and it is cricket. Unlike first two seasons this IPL was highly competitive one with exception of mumbai which did extremely well and punjab which performed its worst cricket.

Some of matches were simply outstanding with yusuf almost single handely trying to chase down huge total , banglore powered by kallis and pandey successfully chashing 200+ , decaan landing itself in position of winning every single game to enter semis and successfully doing that , dhoni ensuring chennai remain in top 4 for , 3rd consecutive time and kolkatta producing some gem from their hat.

This IPL saw veterans like kallis , tendulkar , ganguly showing their class . Dada fielded like never befor , diving and catching blinders. Tendulkar showed why he is king of cricket while ojha, mishra did ask some tought question to srikanth and company about why were they not selected for t-20 world cup.

Till last two league matches it was not clear as to which teams would play in semis except mumbai and to some extent banglore which was good for tournament.

IPL unfortunately would keep on being in news for lalit modi , IT raids till dust settles down but as far as cricket goes , this seasons was one of best displays of cricket.

But it is not just IPL controversy which is creating buzz ,it is sunanda pushkar. The lady is what seems to be making people interested as seen by google trends!!!!!!!!!

IPL does matter to cricket loving nation . Controversy related to IPL would definitely make nation curious about it but at end of the day IPL , Sunanda pushkar , Lalit Modi donot actually effect lives of people at large.Yes shashi tharoor is minister of state and a sport company gifting stake of their franchise to good friend of shashi , surely would come under scrutiny.

Again Media shows what people want to see and they cannot be blamed for it. Wont be surprised if some hindi channel comes up with some shashi-sunanda pushkar episode.

Media is on roll from sania-ayesha-sohaib saga it is not sunanda pushkar for them . Controversy sells globally and if mystery woman is the theme , it is gold mine for them.

Wow..88 runs in 54 balls..Sourav ganguly yesterday was on song. It was innings long awaited and he played such a gem of innings after years. It was heartening to see ganguly , once again in control.

During his peak days ganguly was known for his massive sixes but his inability to play balls at chest height made him vunerable at times. Yesterday was different. Sourav ganguly was once again at his best. Hitting sixes , coming down the track and milking deccan chargers.

This victory would surely boast his and his team’s performance but it also keeps hopes of kkr alive to enter semi finals.

Ganguly with yesterday’s knock did enter top 5 run getters list in current IPL season. Kallis , sachin and ganguly are in top 5 defying common belief that t-20 is youngsters game.

With gayle yet to fire and Brendon McCullum to soon join the team , its sure going to be fireworks for kkr.

Deccan on other hand have the firepower to make good of remaining matches. With mumbai well placed and delhi too in comfortable slot , the fight for semis is getting heated up between other teams.

Punjab is virtually out of the game but can play as spoilers for other teams.
