April was best month for Indian News Media. In highly competitive environment that mainly generates revenue from advertisement  delivering news to Indian audience is not easy. Rakhi sawant is bigger news than some bill in parliament , katrina-salman are trp gainers for channels , astrology is important theme and ghost stories is part of ingredient.

Naxals do matter when they strike , pranab does matter when he hikes prices of something but in most of time , majority are happy with gossips of bollywood , parties of rich and famous and sixes of batsman.

People are not to be blamed since they already have tough life and dont want to get more tensions by news that matter.

April 2010 was exciting and rewarding month for news media. They were caught sleeping by sania’s love saga but once they got the news , they went to make most of it. Sania-Sohaib Malik were ideal masala story. Indian girl wants to marry pakistani man , both are stars and there is another angle of ayesha siddiqui. What more would news seeker need?

Crying ayesha , her nika nama , sohaib’s denial , sania’s support was flavor of first half of april. But it seemed the party for news media would end till lalit modi came to their rescue. He tweeted famous -’Yeh sunanda puskhar kaun hai’ and media forgot sania and went after sunanda puskhar and shashi tharoor. While sania story had only three characters , lalit modi saga had many to make it a big hit.

It involved minister , a woman , IPL , modi . It served the purpose perfectly. Modi’s lifestyle , sunanda’s profile , south african model , irregularities in Ipl all made its way from reporter brain to our drawing rooms.

Alas this story to ended with shashi resigning and lalit being suspended. It looked like news media would have usual stories of crime and such things but entered madhuri and desai.

While madhuri did unthinkable of being spy for pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!, desai did make money granting permission to colleges. Both did make headlines but madhuri overshadowed desai.

Finally month ended with smiling dr manmohan singh and gilani pledging ‘yeh dosti hum nahi todenge theme’ . It was same old story while dr singh stating that India wants good relationship with pakistan ,wants stable pakistan , won’t interfere in internal matters and stop terror. Gilani went on his usual script of not allowing anyone to use his territory against India. Guess he was reading from pervez’s script of 2004.

Now another month would start and who knows what it has in store?.
