Who says threats for so called honor are limited to rural parts of subcontinent. Recently delhi , capital of India saw killing of lovers in name of honor. Here the issue was of caste and girl belonged to so called upper caste while boy belonged to so called lower caste. ‘So called’ , because there is nothing like lower caste or upper caste thing. Another shocking news came from punjab where a step father is accused of killing his step daughter . The step father and daughter are NRIs (non resident indians ). Born in small town , amibitious girl who wanted to enter the big scene of India , bright student who got into prestigious institute called Indian Institute of Mass Communication. So Called Caste Heads Defend Honour Killing

They call themselves custodian of traditions. They call it vedic culture and pronouce verdicts which can compete with taliban of pakistan and afghanistan!!!!!!! 20 heads of village panchyat met in what they call as mahapanchayat. Agenda was recent judgement given by court against people involved in case of honour killing. The verdict was loud and clear . Death penalty for so called custodians who themselves turn judges against consitution of India and give verdict to kill couples. Honour killing has nothing honourable in it. Brothers killing their sisters for marrying against social customs , villagers announcing couple to live as brother and sisters are some of verdicts given by so called caste leaders. Casteism is deep rooted social problem in India. Though things are changing faster but still the ill thing which has been in collective consciousness of people since thousands of years can’t go so easily. How deep rooted is caste factor in our society can be seen by following true instance : Yesterday my doothwala came to deliver milk. He works for a diary. He has good built , with good height .
