Mukesh ambani is making news all across the globe. For a change usually media shy mukesh is all over the media not for his business venture but because of his house. Mukesh ambani’s home is valued anywhere from $600 million to $1 billion depending on which news piece you are reading.
First let us talk about his house and then about public reactions.
The home sweet home of mukesh ambani is said to have car parking facility for 160 cars. It has three heli pads , theater with capacity of 50 , health club with gym , ballroom , elevated garden . Overall it is 173 m high and total space of 37,000 square meters.
Now coming to reactions. I remember going to a client who runs an social service NGO. He was shocked to read about the house. He called it manifestation of ego of a man living in country where more than 40% are officially poor and around 75% are actually poor.
Well now a man running an NGO can’t be expected to be supportive for such a house which is built by investment of such a huge amount. His stand is understandable.
Interestingly I came across an American community which we discussing this billion dollar home. 70% of them slammed mukesh for his billion dollar home. There reasons where similar to this ngo guy and they called mukesh flashing wealth amidst 2 billion people not getting meal twice a day.
To be fair with mukesh , he is chair man of reliance Industries and not prime minister of India. He has earned his money legally and inherited business as legal heir of dhiru bhai amabani. He has every right to use money in whatever way he wants to.
Yes India still struggles to elevate its citizen from poverty. Yes 40% hardly get meals twice a day, yes economic developments have not reached to millions and millions. Yes there is harsh reality that 100 people in country of more than 100 billion have 25% of wealth of India but does that mean mukesh should not have choice?
If mukesh earned money and wanted to make his dream home who are we to criticize him for doing that?. He does more charity than what i can even dream of. He runs schools , has hospital and above all runs largest private sector of India which employees more than 23,000 people in reliance industries and has around 30 lakh share holders.
No I am not saying mukesh does all these for social service. He runs a business and making profit is his job. I am just supporting his right to use his own money in way he wants to.
I would like to get feedbacks from people about what they think about this. Did mukesh did right thing to have billion dollar home?. Is it manifestation of his ego?. Is he flashing money and being immoral considering number of poors in the country?. Don’t people spend their money their way and shouldn’t billionare have same right?. Are people being fair in critizing mukesh?
