Shame of India
As I woke up this morning , I was shocked , angry,upset with what I saw. 20 animals attacking a minor . 20 animals which looked like human beings , dressed as human beings but had instinct of male animal or perhaps bull too respects choice of female animal…
My first reaction was to get hold of these 20 , strip them on street and make them go through something similar to what this girl went through. I was so angry with the incident. If girl,woman are not free to walk down the streets in delhi or guwahati or mumbai , what the hell are we achieving?
The cases of eve teasing , molestation and rape are rising and we need to introspect on it and do something about it. Passing the buck on western culture doesnot change anything. Neither does adopting saudi kind of attitude does. What can make difference is revisiting and altering paradigm about how we as nation view women.
It pains me to see only nation in the world where feminine power of worshiped and only country which has goddess and 2 navratris to celebrate feminine power , in such great nation today every day newspaper is filled with cases of some woman being raped or molested or killed for dowry or abused…I understand that we are 120 crores and such cases would happen every now and then but what is alarming is that such cases are rising at rapid rate.
What we need is stronger and stricter laws . For e.g. rape should have jail term of 20 years instead of 7 years. Rape is murder of self respect , it is something which woman lives with entire life. Her trauma , her pain , her fears are something which take entire life time to deal in many cases. 7 years is too short a time for such crimes.Molestation should be dealt as threat to society and considered like wise.
Other than laws , we need to united as society , country to make sure such acts are treated with such outrage that no one dares to repeat such acts. It should be considered as social taboo and people who indulge in such acts must be socially isolated. Often rape victims are treated in such way , while it should be other way round.
I feel ashamed today with act which I saw as Indian. I feel sorry for the minor who went through hell in those half and hour. Lets Unite To Get These Men Pay For It.

But with the understanding that rape is an inevitability and an avoidable threat and an individual crime, there’s also no reason to actually do something about sexual assault. As long as we pin part of the responsibility for assault on victims — whether it’s people in prison or people in their own homes — there’s less of an incentive to actually curb assault, and less of an understanding that it actually is possible to prevent sexual assault on the assailant side. As long as we understand sexual assault as inevitable because men are naturally sexually voracious and sexually violent, there’s no logical argument for trying to prevent sexual assault on the assailant side, because the only real solution is for women to protect themselves from roving, uncontrollable beasts. How can one stop men from raping, the argument goes, if some men are “natural” rapists? It only makes sense to target women with “common-sense advice,” even though that advice — which largely amounts to “don’t go outside” — has little relation to how sexual assault actually functions. And so while we could actually do quite a bit to curb assault — and while sexual assault rates have decreased as female power in society has increased — the entire way we understand it makes efforts to curb it seem pointless.
The most conservative position—defended most famously in the 1976 DPP v Morgan decision (Baron 2001, 9-14)—holds that a man has mens rea only if he believes the woman is not consenting (or that she is at least probably not consenting). On this view, a man who sincerely believes that the woman is consenting is not guilty of rape, no matter how unreasonable his belief may be under the circumstances. A more moderate view is that a man has mens rea if he either believes the woman is not consenting or believes unreasonably that she is consenting. Thus, in jurisdictions where this understanding of mens rea is in force, the question of whether the woman actually consented often gives way—particularly in cases of date and acquaintance rape—to the question of whether the man reasonably believed she consented.
