It is ironical that in country which worships feminine power has to have various awareness campaigns , rope in celebs , provide various schemes to make sure that girl child is welcomed in the world but unfortunately that is what is so out here.

One of worst and shameful statistics which we as country have had is 2 million daughters killed in 20 years. This official figure can put any thinking patriot Indian’s head down in shame.

Let look at gender ratio in major states of India as per figures of 2011 :

Haryana , Punjab and Gujarat are among worst states in gender ratio terms. Especially in 0-6 years age groups , haryana is worst with eight hundred and thirty girls per 1000 boys . Neighboring punjab  in 0-6 year age group has eight hundred and fourty six girls per 1000 boys . Gujarat has eight hundred and eighty six girls per 1000 boys in 0-6 age group while uttar pradesh had 899 girls per 1000 boys in category of 0-6 age group.

If we view overall statistics of India we have nine hundred and eleven girls over 1000 boys in 0-6 age group. Which means in last 6 years sex ratio has become far more worst ,instead of improving. In spite of advertisement campaigns, scholarship programs , various schemes gender ratio doesnot seem to improve.

This is going to be challenging problem unless we improve upon the gender ratio.
