Organ Donation & Family Dilemma
I applaud NDTV’ s new initiative on organ donation. India is very passive as far as organ donation goes. 1 in million donate their organs. Last year 110 people donated organs and requirement is around 25,000!!!!!! I would like to share experience of my cousins who donated eyes of their mother. One of my cousin is NRI while his brother stays in India. When my aunt became very sick , my NRI cousin came back to India. My aunt could not survive and died. Both brothers discussed about organ donation and decided to donate her eyes. They called eye bank and donated the eyes. Eyes are good enough for around 4 hours after person has died. When My Mother Was Wrongly Operated

In today’s world of commercialization even doctors and hospitals are more concerned about their turn overs than patients. My father has history of eye problems. He had low vision in the nights since he was child , then he had glaucoma and other such eye related problem. In 1994 he lost his vision , almost completely. Doctors said that its case of some bacterial degeneration that has covered the retina and veins connecting brain with eye have dried up.
